Arai receives 2022 Young Investigator Award from ASBMR

Yuki Arai, DDS, PhD, a research fellow in theOno Tooth Laboratoryat UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry, has been named a 2022 recipient of the ASBMR Fund for Research and Education Young Investigator Award.

TheYoung Investigator Awardis presented to young investigators who are the first and presenting author of the highest-ranking abstracts within each category submitted for the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research Annual Meeting. The 2022 ASBMR Annual Meeting was held Sept. 9-12 in Austin.

Arai was selected in the “Osteoporosis Therapy: Mechanisms of Action and Novel Targets” category for his abstract presentation, titled “Bisphophonates induce permanent defects in tooth root formation and long-term disruption in tooth eruption by inhibiting PTHrP-expressing dental follicle in growing molars.”

TheASBMR Fund for Research and Educationis supported by individual donations. Donations are used exclusively to provide research grants and training opportunities for basic and clinical researchers as well as allied health professionals specializing in the bone, mineral, and musculoskeletal field.

The Ono Tooth Laboratory is under the direction of Wanida Ono, DDS, DMSc, PhD.
