MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) is a unique collaboration between UTHealth and MD Anderson Cancer Center. This synergistic partnership provides students with unparalleled access to modern facilities, world-class faculty and unlimited prospects for research in the biomedical sciences.
Students are admitted directly to the graduate school through an umbrella admissions process, and not into departments or programs. Students interested in pursuing a MS, Specialized MS or PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences apply to the Graduate School using the application for admission. Entering PhD students perform three tutorial rotations before selecting a faculty advisor and joining a graduateprogram.
Recommended undergraduate coursework to prepare a PhD applicant for graduate studies includes basic courses in Biology, Physics, Calculus and Biochemistry. Before beginning your application, please read therequirements and instructionscarefully.

Visitation/Interview Weekends
Interviews are required for all applicants who are offered admission to the
PhD interviews will be held virtually this spring. We will host four interview days on the following Fridays: February 4, February 18, March 4, and March 18. Invitations to interview are sent throughout the cycle. Students should expect to be notified by email regarding interviews by mid-February.
The final deadline forallapplication materials to be submitted is11:59 p.m. central time. Early submission is encouraged.All materials, including letters of recommendation, must be submitted by the deadline. No late materials will be accepted.
The General GRE exam is no longer required or recommended for most applicants. Students applying to the MS and PhD programs in Medical Physics are required to provide GRE scores.
