My research interests are focused in three areas. The first one involves the transmissibility of Aβ aggregationin vivoand the pathological features that these events can cause. This novel line of investigation aim to establish the prion-like properties of Aβ aggregates and assess its role on human population. The second is related to the interaction between different misfolded proteins (specifically Aβ and PrPSc) and its implication as a disease mechanism. In this line, we are currently analyzing whether misfolded protein aggregates from one disease could act as a risk factor for a second one. My third line of research comprises the study of both, prion strains and species barrier phenomena usingin vivoandin vitrotechnologies.
