SBMI honors Constance Johnson as distinguished alum at 2018 Commencement event

(June 12, 2018) – During the school’s May 9 commencement ceremony, alumna and Cizik School of Nursing Associate Dean for ResearchConstance Johnson, Ph.D., M.S., R.N., FAAN was awarded the 2018 Distinguished Alum Award from the School of Biomedical Informatics Alumni Association.

For several years, even before joining UTHealth full-time in October 2016, Johnson was an adjunct associate professor at UTHealth’s School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI), where she earned her Ph.D. in 2003 and her M.S. in 2001. Now holding a joint appointment at SBMI, Johnson also is the Lee and Joseph Jamail Distinguished Professor at the nursing school and holds tenure.

Thirty-five new SBMI graduates participated in the commencement ceremony at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in the Stude Concert Hall as they earned a master’s or doctoral degree from SBMI this year. The keynote speaker was State Representative John Zerwas, M.D.

The first SBMI Distinguished Alum Award was bestowed in 2013.
