Dr. Susan Alderman has been a registered nurse for 30 years, specializing in acute care. Her PhD in Nursing has a research focus on cognitive recovery after stroke. Her dissertation work received substantial support from the Partner’s Nursing scholarship program and it was selected to be presented in 2017 at the StrokeNet meeting, at the International Stroke Conference.

She has worked as a nurse researcher for the Department of Neurology, Stroke Team at the McGovern Medical School since 2008. Dr. Alderman has worked on various industry and NIH trials, including the first US trial using stem cells to treat acute stroke, Dr. Sean Savitz, PI. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences. As a part of the NIH StrokeNet training program (2016 - 2017) she continues her research in cognitive impairment after acute stroke.
